We cover all aspects of the industry, from changing a washer in a tap, fitting kitchens and bathrooms through to domestic and commercial sized heating systems. Our experienced team of engineers are all directly employed, fully qualified and DBS checked.
Over the last few years, we have been asked on numerous occasions whether we can supply, install, repair and service air conditioning systems. This being the case we have trained some engineers to be able to offer this service in addition to all our other sectors and therefore we are able to provide the design, installation, repairs and servicing of all types and sizes of air conditioning systems.
We are REFCOM registered and our engineers are City and Guilds 2079 F-Gas Category 1 qualified.

In June 1971, Tom Playford formed Gt. Yarmouth Heating Company Limited with the amalgamation of Micro-Bore Heating Services and G. Batley Ltd.
The company at this time was based in Swanstons Road, Great Yarmouth and was in a prime position to serve all the local established North Sea Gas and Oil, industrial and commercial businesses of the time such as Brown and Root, Erie Resistor, Norfolk Line, Grouts, Amoco to name a few. This coincided with the Oil Boom in the early 1970’s when the company achieved national acclaim after Robert Price assisted Brown and Root in designing and locating the materials for completely non-combustible plumbing facilities in their off-shore living accommodations.
This was addition to doing traditional plumbing and heating work for builders, hotels and guest houses and domestic clients. The company were accredited to provide services to public sector clients such as Norfolk County Council, East Anglian Regional Health Authority, Property Services Agency, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and numerous local hospitals, schools and colleges. During the natural gas infill boom Gt Yarmouth Heating were major contractors to Eastern gas and installed over 2000 installations for them.
Gt. Yarmouth Heating also carried out the design and installation of all types of plumbing and domestic central heating installations
The company was managed day to day initially by Tom Playford (Chairman), Robert Price (Managing Director) and Maureen Price (Company Secretary). Peter Hannant (Contracts Director) and Robert Pitt (Works Director) became part of the team as it expanded.
Through the 1970’s the company employed 30 full time engineers, apprentices and 5 full time office staff.
In order to provide all the above customers with a full comprehensive service Gt.Yarmouth Heating formed a Boiler Maintenance Division in 1975 with all the boiler maintenance engineers fully trained and conversant with all the latest technologies and equipment to enable the servicing and commissioning of all new and existing systems as well as ongoing maintenence.
The move into 28-31 Deneside, Great Yarmouth provided more space for the business to expand, evolve and provide additional services for all our loyal and valuable customers.
Soon Great Yarmouth Heating opened up another sector called GYH Electrical which was managed by Bob Boardley, John Alden and Jason Smith. This company offered a comprehensive electrical service including new installation work, rewires, energy conservation systems, electrical central heating, breakdowns and maintenance.
In 1992 Great Yarmouth Heating purchased a local well established Building Company called TV Palmer’s which gave the company a major influence in the Construction and Mechanical and Engineering work in East Anglia.
In January 2008 Steve Botson purchased the company from Bob and Maureen Price and with the help of all the management, staff and engineers the company has continued to grow from strength to strength.
In September 1985 Steve started his career as an apprentice and has worked his way up through the ranks to supervisor level and was then appointed a Director in 2005. Steve then offered to purchase the company from Bob and Maureen and has continued to provide the high quality of service which has been built up throughout the years.
The decision was made easier at the time for Steve as the current Finance Director Christine Soloman was to remain with the company and assist with all the financial decisions within the organisation. Christine has always been a very reliable and much valued Finance Director and her reputation within this industry has always been exemplary. Christine and I have worked closely over the last 12 years and together we have managed to move the company forward with new ideas and initiatives.
In October 2011 we moved the business to a new location on Hewett Road, Gapton Hall Industrial Estate, Great Yarmouth to enable the company to be far more efficient and accessible for all our customers.
Within the new location we have a seperate office block, parking area, and warehouse which has provided more useable space to be able to offer all the latest renewable technologies such as Biomass, Photo-Voltaic, Solar Thermal, Air Source and Ground Source systems.
We installed within our warehouse a working display of Photo-Voltaic, Solar Thermal and Air Source Heat Pump systems to enable all our customers to see the technology working and to be provided with honest, good quality advice before investing their money. We also installed a Grant Spira wood pellet biomass boiler along with an unvented hot water cylinder which provides all our current heating and hot water needs.
